Membership

Membership is for people who live or work in Leicestershire and Rutland or who have a strong connection with the area. Membership of the Society is by selection. Work must be in dry media - pastel, charcoal, pencil, conte etc. You would need to submit 3 framed pieces of work (exhibition standard), no clip frames, photo frames. Our selection date has not been decided for 2010 yet, but it is likely to be early in the year and will probably take place at our chairman's home in Oadby.

We have an annual exhibition at St. Philip's, Evington Road (late May) and occasionally another one at a different venue. The annual exhibition can boast a very high standard of art, which compares favourably with work in other societies. We attract a strong public interest with visitors and buyers drawn from a wide geographical area, including some from abroad. The 2009 Exhibition was opened by Lars Tharp, from BBC's Antiques Road Show.

The LPS is becoming well established as an art society both here and abroad. We are affiliated to the International Pastel Society and a few members of the society are linked to both The London and Birmingham Pastel Societies.

Please contact Eileen Brookes by the email link above if you wish to become a member.
